The sweet spot of life is when you can be in the flow of all the waves — the ups and the downs and embrace what is.

In the coaching world, we use a technique called “Dancing in this moment” and a secret I’m going to share with you is that I use this daily in all areas of my life.

For you, begin to notice where you resist being in your own flow — meaning where you want to do something and perhaps you stop yourself because there is no time. This is where you may be stopping your flow. Notice where you are not being a dance partner to others; perhaps on your team this could look like not listening, resisting something or not creating in the moment.

Here are some of my tips for flowing — being in this moment and not reacting from the past or timelining to the future — being right here, right now.

TIP #1: BE WITH

Our everyday life is made up of moments. As much as we can have daily rituals, we also can’t anticipate the nuances. In the morning, appreciate your routines and honour the differences that show up in your day instead of resisting them. I use this saying to allow the flow to happen: “There is a learning in this for me today.” Be with exactly what is.

TIP #2: PRACTICE LISTENING TO YOURSELF

I’m not talking about the voices in your head (although I am in a way!). I’m meaning to say: listen to when you are hungry, when you are tired, when you want to run (maybe away?) and when you are thirsty. Most importantly, listen to the voices in your head that are worthy of action — not only those of a negative mindset that has you spiral into your shadows, ok!

TIP #3: PRACTICE LISTENING TO OTHERS

Pick a podcast that you want to listen to, not that you “should” listen to. Give whatever you listen to your fullest attention — mono tasking full attention in fact!

TIP #4: CREATE A TRUSTWORTHY WORD OR PHRASE

When you know you are operating in the past or you can feel yourself being pulled into a future thought, then practice saying something to pull you back to this moment now. Examples that might help to spark a present thought: I am here now or I am present or simply NOW.

There is nothing deeper than working with a coach 1:1. It can be the most vulnerable experience of a lifetime, revealing all sides of your life and getting in tune with what’s really happening. This is where the magic happens — unleashing your true power.

Here is what I know for sure: you will never be ready AND there is nothing you need to clean up before you start your coaching practice. The joy of working with the right coach is to meet you exactly where you are, in your mess, with your excuses and roadblocks — from this place, we can create new ways of being together.

I say take the leap and trust yourself. We are here for all of it, all of you.
